Quick Create guide

Make a coherent, editable campaign track without starting from theory.

This walkthrough creates several deterministic local previews, keeps one, adjusts it in plain language, then opens the full arrangement in Studio.

Before you begin

Verify once, then create during the offline-access period

Activate this installation with a verified Aethera account while online. Soundwright then uses a signed 30-day offline-access grant, with renewal attempted in the background when a connection is available. The arranger, instruments, playback, editing, saving, and export still run on this computer.

Step 1

Choose Create Background Music

From Welcome or Quick Create, select Create Background Music. Pick a purpose such as exploration, tavern, mystery, tension, combat, rest, victory, menu, or cutscene.

Step 2

Describe the feeling and shape

Choose a mood, energy, duration, sparse or full arrangement, broad instrumental character, and whether the result should loop or have a complete ending. A first campaign bed is easiest to judge at gentle or moving energy with a sparse arrangement.

Step 3

Generate multiple local previews

Generate a few variations. Each preview uses a recorded seed and coherent tempo, key, scale, chord progression, instrument roles, rhythmic density, section structure, and intensity curve. Listen for a useful overall arc rather than one impressive moment.

Soundwright’s procedural arranger is not described as an online AI service. Generation is deterministic, local, and fully editable.

Step 4

Adjust before opening the technical controls

Try one action such as Make It Calmer, Make It Darker, Add Movement, Use Fewer Instruments, or Make It More Intense. Audition the proposal and accept only the version you prefer.

Step 5

Open Studio and inspect the arrangement

The intro, main section, variation, optional rise, loop transition, and ending appear on editable tracks. Select an instrument track to open its notes or pattern, or select a clip to adjust timing, gain, fades, effects, and lock state.

  • Lock a melody or chord progression you want to keep.
  • Regenerate one instrument or section instead of discarding the whole track.
  • Use the piano roll to move, resize, quantize, humanize, transpose, or change velocity.
  • Use the mixer to balance volume, pan, ambience send, and master peak level.

Step 6

Audition the loop or ending

For a loop, enable loop audition and listen through the boundary repeatedly. Adjust the loop transition and crossfade if the harmony, rhythm, reverb tail, or sustained notes reveal the seam. For a complete ending, disable looping and leave enough tail for the final sound to decay naturally.

Step 7

Save, reopen, and export

  1. Save the editable project as .soundwright.
  2. Close and reopen it to confirm notes, clips, locks, effects, and loop points are preserved.
  3. Choose Seamless BGM Loop or Campaign Music.
  4. Resolve clipping or missing-media warnings before starting the background render.

Use a high-quality lossless master for archiving and a web/VTT-friendly compressed copy for campaign playback. Keep the project so you can create stems or a different variation later.
